After a brief demo, the students get to work. Each team experiments with the technical features of their solar critter and adjusts the critter as best they can. The students can divide the tasks among themselves. Who cycles the fastest? Who can shine the best? How do we, as a team, make sure we win the race?
The competition: one of the team members must run as fast as he/she can on the “hand bike”. Movement energy is converted into light from a bicycle lamp. By shining the lamp on the solar critter, it starts to move. The tuning of the creature determines who goes fastest over the course. Who wins?
