What are the admission fees?

Are bags allowed in the museum?

You can take (small) handbags, not bigger than 20×30 cm, into the museum. Larger bags and backpacks are not allowed. You can store your belongings in the cloak room lockers free of charge.

Are there lockers to store my belongings?

Yes, you can store your belongings in one of the lockers in the cloak room free of charge.

Can I take pictures in the museum?

Yes, you can take pictures, but only for non-commercial purposes.

Are pets allowed in the museum?

Pets are not allowed in the museum. However, assistance dogs are welcome. After showing the assistance dog identification card, the owner can take the dog into the museum.

How long does a visit to the museum take?

On average visits take four and a half hours.

Revolution Earth

What language versions are available for the Revolution Earth tours?

The tours of Revolution Earth are available in Dutch, German and English. You can choose the language when you book your tickets.

Do I have to buy a separate ticket to see Revolution Earth?

Yes, you need to buy a separate ticket for Revolution Earth. The tickets cost € 3 per person and are only available together with a valid ticket for Discovery Museum. Buy your tickets here: Revolutie Aarde • Discovery Museum

Do I have to book tickets in advance to see Revolution Earth?

It is not required to book tickets in advance, although we recommend advance booking to make sure you can join a tour of the exhibition. Tickets, if not sold out, are also available at the museum ticket office.

What is the ideal age for children to enjoy Revolution Earth?

Revolution Earth is an experience for the whole family, but for children the recommended age is 6 years and older.

How long does a tour of Revolution Earth take?

A tour takes 45 minutes.

At what times can I see Revolution Earth?

Check the reservation module to see for which time slots tickets are still available. The tour starts at the time that is shown, so we recommend to join the guide at the meeting point not later than five minutes before the start of the tour.

Food and drinks

Is there a museum restaurant? If so, what is on the menu?

The Discovery Café offers a selection of fresh food and beverages for you to enjoy.

Can I take my own food and drink into the museum?

Yes, you can, we even have a picnic area.

Does the restaurant cater for guests with food allergies?

Our restaurant can accommodate most food allergies. Inform the staff about the allergy so that the necessary precautions can be taken.

Can I warm a bottle or food for my baby?

The staff at the Discovery Café will be happy to warm the bottle or food for you.

Tickets

Am I required to book tickets online?

It is possible to book tickets online, but you are not required to do so. It is always a good idea to book tickets online at times when large numbers of visitors can be expected, as is the case in the holiday periods.

Can I buy tickets in the museum?

Tickets can be bought at the ticket machine in the entrance hall, or at the reception desk.

Do I have to book a time slot?

Booking a time slot is not required.

What must I do to make a booking for a group?

Contact boekingen@discoverymuseum.nl or give us a call on +31 (0) 45-567 08 09 if you want to make a booking for a group. You can contact us from Tuesday until Friday during office hours.

Is there a deadline for buying e-tickets?

You can still buy e-tickets on the day you intend to visit the museum.

Can I rebook my e-tickets?

Visitors who have an account with the museum can rebook their e-tickets.
If you do not have an account yet, you can contact us on boekingen@discoverymuseum.nl or ring us at +31 (0) 45-567 08 09. You can contact us from Tuesday until Friday during office hours.

I have a Museumkaart. Do I still need to buy an e-ticket?

Admission is free with the Museumkaart. Holders of the Museumkaart need not buy e-tickets. However, we recommend ordering free ‘Reserveringstickets Museumkaart’ to book places on one of the tours. We strongly recommend doing so during the holiday periods.

Who can I turn to for remaining questions about e-tickets?

Contact us on info@discoverymuseum.nl or ring us on +31 (0)45-567 08 09 for all questions concerning e-tickets. You can contact us from Tuesday until Friday from 9 am to 5 pm and on Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm.

Is admission to the museum free or reduced for people with disabilities?

Unfortunately we cannot make exceptions and have to charge the regular ticket prices. Admission is free for essential carers when they can present a public transport escort card.

Does the museum accept the ‘autipas’ issued by the Dutch National Autism Association (NVA)?

No, we cannot accept the ‘autipas’. Admission is free for essential carers when they can present a public transport escort card.

Discounts

I have a discount code. What do I have to do?

Choose your tickets for adults or youth using the button “Entrance ticket – voucher discount” in the ticket shop. When you pay enter the discount code in the ‘Do you have a discount code’ field. Then click ‘use’ to use the code and the discount is processed.

I have a CJP card. Am I entitled to a discount?

When you show your CJP card you will get a 50% discount on the entrance fee. Regrettably, you cannot book a ticket online. Please go to the museum information counter if you want to make use of this discount option.  What if I want to book a ticket anyway? In that case choose the option ‘Reservation ticket Vriendenloterij VIP TICKET’.

I have an ICOM card. Am I entitled to a discount?

When you have an ICOM card you are entitled to a free visit. Regrettably, you cannot book a ticket online. Please go to the museum information counter if you want to make use of this discount option.  What if I want to book a ticket anyway? In that case choose the option ‘Reservation ticket Vriendenloterij VIP TICKET’.

I work at Chemelot. Am I entitled to a discount?

You may be entitled to a discount. Please refer to the website of Stichting FSI for the latest information.

I work for the Kerkrade council. Am I entitled to a discount?

When you present your council staff card you will get a discount of 25% on the entrance fee. You can buy your reduced ticket at the information counter or through the online ticket shop with the Kerkrade council discount code.
In addition you will get a 10% discount on purchases in in the museum shop when you show your membership card. This discount does not apply to books, reduced items, gift cards and the purchase of the Museumkaart.

I am a member of the staff association H2O. Am I entitled to a discount?

When you present your card from the staff association H2O you will get a 25% discount on the entrance fee. You can buy your reduced ticket at the information counter or through the online ticket shop with the H2O staff association discount code.
In addition you will get a 10% discount on purchases in in the museum shop when you show your membership card. This discount does not apply to books, reduced items, gift cards and the purchase of the Museumkaart.

I work for EKK Eagle Simrax. Am I entitled to a discount?

When you show the EKK Eagle Simrax SmartCom app you will get a 25% discount on the entrance fee. Regrettably, you cannot book a ticket online. Please go to the museum information counter if you want to make use of this discount option.  What if I want to book a ticket anyway? In that case choose the option ‘Reservation ticket Vriendenloterij VIP TICKET’.

I work at Laura Metaal. Am I entitled to a discount?

As an employee of Laura Metaal, you will get a discount of 25% on the entrance fee. You can buy your reduced ticket through the online ticket shop with the Laura Metaal discount code.

I am a member of Meander eXtra. Am I entitled to a discount?

When you show your Meander membership card you will get a discount of 25% on the entrance fee. You can buy your reduced ticket at the information counter or through the online ticket shop with the Meander discount code.
In addition you will get a 10% discount on purchases in in the museum shop when you show your membership card. This discount does not apply to books, reduced items, gift cards and the purchase of the Museumkaart.

I have an annual ticket for GaiaZOO. Am I entitled to a discount?

When you show a valid annual ticket for GaiaZOO you will get a 25% discount on the entrance fee. Regrettably, you cannot book a ticket online. Please go to the museum information counter if you want make use of this discount option.  What if I want to book a ticket anyway? I have a Museumkaart. Is this valid in Discovery Museum?

When you have a Museumkaart you can visit us for free. To get into the museum you scan your Museum Pass at the entrance gates.

Can I buy a Museumkaart at the museum?

Yes, it is available at the cash desk. With the Museumkaart you are entitled to a free visit to Discovery Museum and more than 500 other museums in the Netherlands.

I have a Vriendenloterij VIP CARD. Can I use it to visit the museum?

As VIP-cardholder with the VriendenLoterij you are entitled to free admittance to Discovery Museum. You may also bring one guest for free. What do I have to do? You book the number of tickets you need as ‘Reservation ticket Vriendenloterij VIP CARD’ and scan your VIP Card at the entrance gate. To make use of the (free) entrance ticket for your guest, you go to the information counter.

Accessibility

Is Discovery Museum easy to get to by public transport?

Yes, the Kerkrade-Centrum railway station is close to the museum. More information about how to get to the museum can be found on Getting there

Are there parking spaces near the museum?

You can park your car free of charge in the P+R car park near Kerkrade-Centrum railway station. More information about how to get to the museum can be found on Getting there

Is Discovery Museum a wheelchair-accessible museum?

Yes, there a number of lifts and there is an accessible toilet that also accommodates wheelchairs. More information about accessibility can be found on Accessibility

Are there wheelchairs available for the duration of the visit?

Yes, we do. We have one wheelchair for adults, one wheelchair for kids and one walker that can be borrowed during the visit to the museum.

Are mobility scooters allowed in the museum?

Yes, mobility scooters are allowed.

Can people with a low stimulus tolerance visit the museum?

We welcome all guests! However, the museum tends to be a rather noisy environment with numerous visual effects. There are no quiet places to retreat to. Ask the staff at the reception desk what the quiet hours are. They can be contacted on +31 (0) 45-567 08 09, from Tuesday to Sunday, from 11 a.m. till 5 p.m.

Are there facilities (such as a hearing loop) for people with hearing impairments?

No, we do not offer such facilities.

Are there facilities for people with visual impairments?

No, we do not offer such facilities.

Does the museum offer audio tours?

No, we do not offer audio tours.

Would the museum be a good destination for a school trip?

Is there a museum shop?

You can browse in our Museum shop for attractive souvenirs, original gifts for granddad who loves to explore things or for your inquisitive niece. There also technical gadgets and fascinating books on offer. As yet there is no online store.

Are there seats to take a short break?

There are a number of seats if you want to sit down for a while. We can also recommend the Discovery Café for a longer break.

I lost something during my visit to Discovery Museum. Whom can I contact about lost and found objects?

You can contact the staff at the reception desk on +31 (0) 45-567 08 09. They can be contacted from Tuesday to Sunday, from 11 a.m. till 5 p.m.

What does Discovery Museum do with lost and found objects?

Found objects with a market value of up to approximately € 450,- will be kept for 12 weeks. If the owner of a lost object does not claim his property within 12 weeks, the object will be donated to a charity, providing it is still usable. Lost and found objects that are no longer fit for purpose will be disposed of.
